We have now moved the venue for our regular meetings in Eastbourne.
The Mankind team now meet face to face every Wednesday from 6.00-8.30pm at Eastbourne Campus. East Sussex College Cross Levels Way, Eastbourne BN21 2UF

Welcome to this very first episode of the It’s Not Weak to Speak Podcast. We’re so pleased to have launched our new podcast episode about the trials and tribulations of men’s mental health.

This podcast brings insights and inspiration about the highs, the lows, the breakthroughs and the profoundly touching turnaround stories of men’s journeys traversing the harsh and uncharted terrain of men’s mental health.

In this first episode we interview the co-founder of men’s mental health support group Paul Roskilly (a.k.a. Rosko) from ManKind CIC.

Sadness in Men: Challenging the Stigma

We’re calling for the stigma around mental health to be challenged and dismantled. While men are equally as likely to suffer from depression as women, they’re significantly less likely to seek help. This translates to a high rate of suicide among men. Tackling the taboo around men’s mental health is one of the ways we can all help to save lives.

Depression and S.A.D in Men

Worryingly, recent statistics highlight the fact that men in the UK are facing increased levels of depression and seasonal affective disorder, which, when left untreated, can progress to thoughts of self-harm and suicide. The latest report on suicide rates in England and Wales from the Office for National Statistics found that in 2021, three-quarters of suicides were committed by men, resulting in 4,129 male deaths out of a total of 5,583.
